The qualifying draw has been published.
Qualify Draw
Jamie is the top seed so he gets a bye in the first round. He will play Torrey Gambill (un) or Kris Nathan (wr-1551) in the second round and potentially the 7th seed Phillip King (wr-387) in the third round.
Colin is the fifth seed and has a tougher draw, he will face Alberto Francis (wr-528) or Sunil Kumar Sipaeya (wr-516) in the second round.[/url]

Jamie beat Torrey Gambill 6-0 6-2
As expected he will face Phillip King in the final round of qualifying.
Unfortunately Colin couldn't join him in the 2nd round. He was beaten 7-5 6-3 by Alberto Francis.

Jamie beat Phillip King 6-0 6-4
He will face Florin Mergea (wr-291) in the main draw. That is a good draw but Mergea is more experienced at this level so Jamie will have to continue his excellent from qualifying.
Jamie has earned 3 points by qualifying so he is guarenteed to improve his ranking a little bit.

Jamie was so close to making the main draw as a result of withdrawals, however I'm pleased he didn't now as he's gained the 3 points for qualifying !
What a win against King today, I thought it'd be a really close 3 setter - didn't expect 0 and 4 at all ! Hugely impressive Especially considering how Henman struggled so much with King in Washington rd2 last week - he had to save match point I think !
I reckon Jamie has a great chance against Mergea, that's a really good draw. Mergea's not ranked that much higher at 291 and his recent form has been quite poor. He was a world junior no 2 and won junior Wimbledon back in 2003 aswell as making Aussie Open junior final [losing to Bagdathis] but he hasn't really taken that promise into the seniors. Andy Murray beat Mergea in Granby last year and said afterwards that Mergea has a good game for hard courts with a big serve and forehand but his backhand was weak and his court coverage is suspect.
If Jamie makes it through to rd2 he'll be likely to face 5th seed Tomas Cakl [ranked 167]. Cakl has been on a terrible run of bad form and hasn't won a match since May.

Brilliant news.
Baker bt Mergea 6-1 6-4
Jamie has reacted to the Vacouver debacle in the best possible way.
In the 2nd round he will face Thomas Cakl who beat Mashiska Washington (wr-1004) 6-4 7-6(5)

A real shame that Jamie wasn't able to overcome Cakl as that would have put him back in the top 290. He got a great start, breaking early on but wasn't able to build on that, getting broken back straight away. Cakl then broke again at 5-5.
Jamie didn't play very well in set 2 and that was fairly routine for Cakl who broke twice and served out the match to love. Jamie needs to work on his 2nd serve as his play in the baseline rallies is really superb, the serve just lets him down at times.
A great win over Florin Mergea in rd1 though, Mergea was unable to make much impression on Jamie in the baseline rallies and the 20 year old Brit dominated from the start, standing close to the baseline and taking the ball early, keeping the pressure on his opponent.
Next up is Bronx challenger qualies which will be really tough, the top 8 seeds in qualifying are likely to be top 250 players so Jamie will have to be at his very best to make it through.
Qualifying draw details should be available on Saturday morning.
